Win-Win Alliances

Social entrepreneurs are rewriting the rules on some of the world's most pressing challenges.

Ashoka Changemaker Companies brings this intelligence directly into the business world. With companies we build the leadership, skills, and pathways needed to prepare for unexpected challenges, while driving impact that creates value for business, people, and planet.

Below are examples of successful alliances between large companies and Ashoka Fellows.

Last-mile health care

KERSIA & FEMI KAYODE

Ashoka Fellow Femi Kayode, founder of Farm Alert, is connecting last-mile smallholder farmers in Nigeria with networks of veterinarians. This better predicts and prevents disease, reduces animal mortality and boostfarmers' incomes.

By partnering with Kersia, a member of the Changemaker Companies network and global leader in food and water safety, both Farm Alert and Kersia have reached thousands of new farmers in Nigeria.

LENOVO & SONJA BETSCHART

Ashoka Fellow Sonja Betschart, founder of WeRobotics, launched the Flying Labs network—a social franchise that empowers local drone and AI experts across the Global South to tackle social and environmental challenges using homegrown talent.

Lenovo has supported Flying Labs in South Africa with the technology needed to scale their work. This collaboration is part of a partnership between Lenovo and Ashoka to make technology a force for positive change.

BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM & MIGUEL NEIVA

Ashoka Fellow Miguel Neiva, founder of ColorADD, has developed a universal color code for all people to use, regardless of their capacity to identify colors. ColorADD has been adopted by dozens of companies and is applied in hospitals, transport systems, retail and toy brands.

Miguel is one of the 135 leading social innovators supported by Boehringer Ingelheim, a member of the Changemaker Companies network.

Partnering with Changemaker Companies triggered an individual and collective shift within the organization. How? By working hand-in hand with social entrepreneurs, employees develop skills like empathy, teamwork and multistakeholder collaboration.

By engaging with social entrepreneurs, we’re capturing their way of seeing the world: their ability to see opportunities when society sees problems, and to be creative and solution‑oriented. This mindset is invaluable, and it’s one we want to nurture across the organization.

Ashoka is a great global organization, built on a brilliant idea. It picks up social innovators when they themselves don’t know what great changes they can bring. That’s the stage when budding innovators need the support most. Ashoka helps pool local innovations into global solutions.

Ashoka Fellow Profile. Meet Simon Berry

👉 ColaLife│📍 United Kingdom

Simon Berry developed a model inspired by Coca-Cola’s wide distribution network to deliver affordable, over-the-counter medicines to underserved, low-income communities. He argues that if products are designed to meet the specific needs of people at the “bottom of the pyramid,” private markets can effectively distribute healthcare. His goal is to build sustainable supply chains so local shops and health systems can consistently provide essential treatments.
